Study on Pollution Characteristics of Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) in Shallow Groundwater

چکیده

Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in shallow groundwater are increasingly being studied due to the global occurrence, environment persistence, bioaccumulation, and potential human health risk. In this research, 16 PFAS (11 perfluorinated carboxylic acids 5 sulfonic acids) concentrations were quantified obtain information on geographical distribution detection pattern for 4 years South Korea. results, concentration ranged from non-detectable average 45.2 ng/L (sum of PFASs). The major compounds perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluoropentanoic (PFPeA), perfluorohexanoic (PFHxA), perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS), perfluorooctane (PFOS). short chain (C < 8) PFASs more prevalent than long > groundwater. However, patterns 15 different each aquifer. Subsequently, through a risk assessment, non-carcinogenic level ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact PFOA PFOS was determined at 10−1, it presents need management

Circulating levels of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and carotid artery atherosclerosis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE During recent years, some persistent organic pollutants (POPs) have been linked to atherosclerosis. One group of POPs, the poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have not been investigated with regard to atherosclerotic plaques. METHODS Carotid artery atherosclerosis was assessed by ultrasound in 1016 subjects aged 70 years in the Prospective Investigation of the...

Potential Designated Chemicals: Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs)

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a class of fluorinated organic chemicals containing at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom. The C-F bond is one of the strongest known covalent bonds, and the multiple C-F bonds in PFASs impart their chemical and thermal stability. The strength of the C-F bond arises, in part, from the electronegativity of the fluorine atom and from ...

Occurrence and trends in concentrations of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in surface waters of eastern China.

Spatial distributions of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) were investigated in surface waters in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces of eastern China during 2011. A total of 39 samples of surface waters, including 29 rivers, 6 lakes and 4 reservoirs were collected. High performance liquid chromatography/negative electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC/(-)ESI-MS/MS) was used...

Can profiles of poly- and Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in human serum provide information on major exposure sources?

BACKGROUND Humans are exposed to poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) from diverse sources and this has been associated with negative health impacts. Advances in analytical methods have enabled routine detection of more than 15 PFASs in human sera, allowing better profiling of PFAS exposures. The composition of PFASs in human sera reflects the complexity of exposure sources but source id...
